FIBA inaugurates House of Basketball

SEICOM Sports Parquet Floor - FIBA Study Center Partner since 1996 

MIES, Switzerland - FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, on Tuesday held an Inauguration Ceremony to officially unveil its new headquarters, the House of Basketball.

Since 1996 the Company’s been FIBA Study Center (Geneva) Partner.
Seicom therefore takes part to all exhibitions and decisional meetings held by FIBA relevant to international provisions.

More than 400 guests - including representatives of FIBA’s member national federations across its five zones, as well as marketing partners and members of the 2013 Class of the FIBA Hall of Fame - gathered on the outskirts of Geneva for this special event, which took place on FIBA''s 81st birthday.

During an hour-long show featuring speeches and spectacle, distinguished guests Ueli Maurer, President of the Swiss Confederation, and Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), paid tribute to FIBA and the International Basketball Foundation.

"I am convinced that this state-of-the-art facility will send a clear signal in the area of economic development. FIBA''s decision to build its headquarters here serves as proof that this region - and Switzerland as a whole - is steady, reliable and central," said Mr Maurer.

"As President of the Swiss Confederation and as Minister for Sports, this confidence pleases me."

Mr Rogge praised the fact that the building captured the spirit of FIBA entirely.

"I am delighted to participate in the inauguration of the House of Basketball today. The new headquarters represent the spirit of FIBA: solid, universal and dynamic," he said.

"I was particularly impressed by the innovative design of the building shaped like a hand and also designed to look like a basketball net. With the close proximity of Mies to Lausanne, we look forward to continuing our strong collaboration."

While the people in attendance for the Inauguration Ceremony are closely linked to FIBA, its President, Yvan Mainini, pointed out that the doors of the House of Basketball are open to lovers of the sport worldwide.

"The House of Basketball is more than just FIBA’s headquarters. It is a home for all basketball lovers around the world," he said.

"The cultural heritage and history of our sport now has a safe place to be preserved and promoted."

FIBA Secretary General and IOC Member Patrick Baumann explained how the unique design of the House of Basketball stands for the values of basketball’s world governing body.

"The hand shape of the House of Basketball reflects a key element of our sport, as well as a symbol of team spirit and unity. In Mies, FIBA''s identity becomes part of the landscape," he said.

"This building represents our sport organisation, while the woven net structure that sustains it represents all its member federations. It is an investment in the future of our sport."

The 2013 Class of the FIBA Hall of Fame will be enshrined at an Induction Ceremony on Wednesday 19 June at the House of Basketball.

Finishing of the SPORT PARQUET for Mediterranean Games.

The 27^th edition of  Mediterranean Games will take place between 20^th and 30^th June 2013.
Mersin will host 24 Countries competing with a schedule listing 32 sports including boat racing, with extra – comparing to Pescara 2009 –  such as badminton, water ski, taekwondo and archery.
MERSIN is a major city in Turkey, chief town of the province, one of the main centres of southern Anatolia. Mersin University opened in 1992.

The choice of MERSIN for Mediterranean Games was made on 23 February 2010 by CIGM Executive Committee – exceptionally  through e-mail voting  after Volos Games (Greece) cancellation. The serious financial crisis affecting the country caused the movement of the event when it was time to decide. The action was taken after many passages and ultimatum. The main reason might have been the missing economic support by the Greek Government to the event.

This renowned university gym  will host trainings and official competitions.

The playing surface of this sports parquet is 1500 sq m.

Installation process carried out in the first week of March 2013.

This important reference goes with the previous ones: Aliaga Arena in Izmir (2010) and Gaziantep University sport hall (2012).

Sports parquet floorings - Radiant heater system

NEW 2013 : Start of a new cooperation with the Company Seppelfricke to supply sports parquet and innovative solutions based on  energy saving and low polluting emissions for facilities with radiant heated parquet floors.

Seicom's been installing parquet floors on radiant heated concrete sub floors for several years; in all these years we've reached knowledge, experience and competence.

We're able to give designers and public administrations a valuable advice on this delicate matter. We have developed specific and detailed instructions both for installation and for workers training.

In these years we've been considering all different solutions offered by the main manufacturers within this trade.

The system developed by Seppelfricke turned out to be the most guaranteed and functional for facilities  with radiant heated parquet.

This is the reason of this cooperation between Seicom and Seppelfricke, in order to grant a certified package for sports facilities.

Seppelfricke SD is one of the most renowned trade marks within plumbing and heating field. The Company is based in Germany and has been effective in Italy since 1992. After a short absence on the Italian market it came back in July 2012 with a new office located in a great industrial set-up in Brasco.

SD Seppelfricke manufactures and marks all the elements that make up the heating system, from plates to pipes, connections and accessories.

The geothermal system exploits free energy from thermal differential of soil, to feed a heating or cooling system based on radiant panels and to supply sanitary hot water.
Benefits from GEOTHERMAL system are: removal of boiler (which means no more periodical upkeep costs), low electricity consumption (1kw generates 4 thermal kw) with chance of photovoltaic panels installation to increase energy production or solar thermal panels (which means polluting emissions breakdown) for a real respect of the environment.

PROVISIONS:
The main European Laws currently in force are : 
EN 12667 – EN 12664 
Testing procedures set out R thermal resistance of the material. 
Testing procedures must be carried out by authorized institutes, in charge to issue the necessary certifications, demanded by engineers. 
   
All sports floorings manufactured by Seicom have been tested and certified according the a.m. laws and therefore certified for floor heating systems; several projects have already been carried out with this system.
